PCOS and Endometrial cancer are primarily due to the hormonal imbalances associated with PCOS.
Oestrogen Dominance: PCOS often leads to an imbalance of sex hormones in the body, including elevated levels of oestrogen.
Prolonged exposure to high levels of oestrogen without the balance of progesterone can stimulate the growth of the uterine lining (endometrium), potentially leading to hyperplasia (abnormal thickening of the endometrial lining), or in some cases, endometrial cancer.
Insulin Resistance: Many women with PCOS also have insulin resistance, which can lead to higher insulin and insulin-like growth factor levels, which leads to the production of oestrogen and contribute to the growth of the endometrium lining.
